Maria Pamela Torres, Managing Director of Scott Holland Healthcare.
With more than 20 years of Nursing experience in both the Philippines and New Zealand. Her most extensive experience is in the aged care setting. This segment is where she began her career as a bedside Registered nurse, advancing to become a nurse leader and manager for some of the most established and respected organizations in New Zealand.
During this time, Maria honed her skills and developed insights to the aged care industry. Maria strongly believes that quality care goes hand-in hand with safe nursing practice and that nurses need constant support to excel and grow in this challenging, novel and self-rewarding profession.
With a post-graduate qualification from the University of Auckland in Leadership and management for Quality Healthcare, she intends to integrate leadership values with practical innovative care models that will make a positive difference where service is needed in the community.
With a diverse background outside of nursing in areas such as recruitment, sales, training and development with multinational companies, she has introduced a comprehensive, well-rounded approach to how her own company operates. Full of client centred ideas in mind, Maria brought in from her long career to fulfill her dream of making people feel valued, cared for, safe and comfortable in their own skin, as well as building a reputation of quality and trust.
Maria considers herself truly fortunate to have New Zealand as her new-found home and Auckland her base. She continues to keep in touch with her friends in Wellington and the capital city has a place in her heart, as well with her friends and family around the world.
During her spare time, Maria can be found listening to music, learning Te Reo Maori, looking after her Spoodle puppy, Ollie; spending time with her beloved mum and working on home renovation projects with her partner Don.
